UP & COMING ARTISTS TO LOOK OUT FOR IN 2020 – JAYY PERK

Jayy Perk was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He has been making music since he was around 6 years old. He says “It started with me writing songs just to show to my family & get their opinion about me writing music. As a kid music felt special to me & I never understood why. Making music aloud me to feel alive, listening to my favorite songs  made me to feel free, I can immerse myself into the beat & rhythm.”

He started making music when he was 17 in the summer of 2019, that was the only time he had access to a producer.

“That was the only time I had access to a producer, I have been wanting to record music but I couldn’t because I didn’t know anybody around, I ended up meeting the one that mixes and masters my music at my job, ever since then, we haven’t stopped making music together.”

Jay Perk humbly said that he remembers the nights when he used to wish he had the resources to make music before he got to where he stands in his music career now.

“I used to pray every night that I could get a chance to just make a song, I guess the prayers have been answered because it didn’t happen the way that I expected. I have dedicated everything I have to my music, this is what I love doing.”

Jay Perk said that music is the only thing people usually have when nobody else understands what your going through, its therapeutic, music helps all of us release work through & the feelings we cant seem to put into words ourselves.

WHO ARE SOME OF YOUR EARLIEST INSPIRATIONS? WHY DID THEY INSPIRE YOU?

“Two of my earliest inspirations are Drake and Lil Wayne. I pick these two as my earliest aspirations because for one Drake at the time when he first blew up I’ve never heard an artist with his sound before. I was a little kid when he blew up and I never heard of anybody rap and sing at the same time. And not only that but how he did it in his own little creative way every time he sang I could tell he genuinely meant every word he was putting out his mouth, and I can tell he didn’t care what anybody thought of him he kept being himself and he didn’t change.”

He also made a comment about Lil Wayne, saying…

“Lil Wayne did what he wanted to do, he just gave it to everybody how they wanted it, he said what he wanted in his music, that was really groundbreaking to me because I never seen anybody do what he did, I never seen anybody talk about the things he talked about his music. I was born in 2002. I didn’t catch the 90’s rappers waves, I wasn’t alive at their primes. I love How Wayne had his own style, he really didn’t care what anybody thought of him.”

HOW MANY PROJECTS DO YOU HAVE RELEASED? WHAT ARE THE CONCEPTS OF EACH PROJECT?

Jay Perk has a few singles out to stream right now, his first Song “Wanna see you down”, is about “experiencing doing good for yourself while the people around don’t want to see you happy, it about people antagonizing you when you’re in a relationship & they don’t want to see you happy with that person. This song is about having to dodge the hate in order to stay positive…”

His second song called “Bad side”, Is about him wanting to make it out & dreaming about a fancy Lifestyle.

“at that time I was thinking about how I wanted to make it. I was so motivated and hungry making that song I just wanted to point out everything I was thinking how people are really fake but they say they down for you and they not.“

HOW MANY PROJECTS DO YOU PLAN TO RELEASE IN 2020? WHAT ARE THE CONCEPTS OF THOSE PROJECTS?

Jayy Perk plans to drop a mix-tape called “Sacrifices” in January 2020.

“I want to release a mix-tape in January 2020, “I Wanna stay consistent in 2020 because I want this to be the biggest year of my life, I really wanna make a lot of music this year. I want to mix tape to be called sacrifices is going to represent all of the sacrifices that I have been through to get to this point and all the things I had to sacrifice to get to this point.”
