UP & COMING ARTISTS TO LOOK OUT FOR IN 2020 – YG RIQO

YG RIQO is the living legend originally born in Compton California. He has lived all around southern California from the Inland Empire to the Valley. Riqo is known for his soulful street music. He said “It’s not quite gangsta rap to me, but full of stories from my experience of the hood. It’s Melodic, but people still say THATS HARD!”

WHEN DID YOU START MAKING MUSIC? WHO WAS YOUR INSPIRATION?

YG Riqo told us, “I started writing poetry & raps on my sisters phone in 4th grade. I wanted to be a professional when I started listening to Curren$y & Wiz Khalifa in 6TH grade.”

His earliest inspirations were 50 Cent, Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, Lil Wayne, & Kid cudi. YG riqo said that Ab-Soul also made a big influence on  his music career when he started to get older.

WHAT MAKES YOUR MUSIC STYLE DIFFERENT FROM EVERYONE ELSE?

“They haven’t lived my life in order to say what I say exactly. You might have a similar story but our stories will never be exactly the same.”

YG Riqo is also a fan of different genres of music, he wants to work on a diverse sound so he does not sound repetitive, or boxed into a category of comparison with anyone else. YG riqo is a perfectionist, having released and then deleting multiple projects multiple times, he currently has a single called “Blood drawn” streamable on soundcloud. Keep in tune for his upcoming 2020 album release.
