WHO IS DJ MELLO SHO!?
DJ Mello Sho is a Music Producer/ DJ who is Beninese by blood, but born in Cleveland Ohio. DJ Mello Sho was raised in Flint, Michigan and ended up moving back to Cleveland in 2013.
DJ Mello is starting to buzz in the Midwest for his unique experimental sound of house and Hip hop. He doesn’t sample any of his sounds from other songs that have already been made.
Almost every aspect of his musicality is original. He also incorporates rhythm styles from west Africa into his music while still managing to keep a modern sound.
DJ Mello Sho has been producing since the eighth grade but said he didn’t get good enough to record until 2015. He has been playing African percussion for as long he can remember and always wanted to capture those emotions, but not just using African instruments.
Some of Dj Mello Sho’s inspirations are Black Coffee, Osunlade, & Manoo when it comes to DJ’ing and Spinning records.
Right now he also has 3 EP’s and 1 single in stores. DJ Mello Sho released all of his infamous EP’s in the same year because he wanted it to share his multi cultural style and let be known that his music was compatible with everyone.
“Bloodline”, “When I chill”, & “ From Where I’m Going” are all extremely different compared to each other because of the diverse Hip hop elements. You will hear the more dominant sounds compared to the Afro House and deep house oriented projects.
When we asked how he came up with the for his project bloodline he said that…
“I called this EP bloodline because it is about the history of my family and the legacy that my family brings without using any words, you know telling the story of my bloodline through the music.”
Another great project is “When I chill”, which is another EP that he put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into creating, he said that…
“This EP is a way of writing a journal. In this project, I really put my emotions into play by turning my every emotion into a sound. From love to happy to how I felt inside a dream I had.”
His most recent single is “Holly Molly and this is a unique EDM Trap beat that can motivate the party scene if its spun on the turntables of any nightclub.
Outside of music DJ Mello Sho is a non profit martial arts instructor. He teaches self defense from ages 8+ for free. He also enjoys doing personal training and photography on the side.
